The Challenge 

The first step on this project was to carry out a detailed SR50 heat loss calculation to determine the heat requirements of the dwellings. As a result of the heat loss design, the team were then able to specify a list of products and solutions that would not only provide compliance but give comfort and hot water for each individual dwelling and its occupants.

The Solution

Our Technical Design & Renewables Team worked with the developer Munster Construction to provide a solution for heating in hot water that makes compliance with Part L of the building regulations. The products that were specified for the dwellings were a Panasonic 5kW R32 monoblock heat pump, along with an Aquarea 200L A-rated hot water cylinder, a polytherm underfloor heating system and Warmhaus steel radiators.

The Panasonic heat pump comes with full EN14825 certification, along with hot water EN16147 certification, and provides a space heating efficiency of over 190% when combined with underfloor heating.

Heat Merchants in-house design team developed the polytherm underfloor heating system which consists of manifolds, underfloor heating pipe, clips and rails, along with EPH room thermostats. The hot water cylinder, which provides hot water for the dwellings, is an A-rated 200L stainless steel cylinder from Panasonic. This combination ensures that each dwelling meets Part L compliance and ensures maximum comfort for heat and hot water.

Panasonic Aquarea 5kW High Performance Mono-Bloc Unit
The Aquarea Monobloc heat pump is easy to install on new or existing installations, in all types of properties.
