Ground Source

Ground source heat pumps known to many people as geo thermal heat pumps provide all of the space heating requirements in the average home and most of the domestic hot water requirement throughout the year. They absorb low temperature energy though either a bore hole or a ground loop system and through the use of refridgeration technology convert that to higher temperature energy or use within the home.

The heat pump system has several components, the primary ones are the ground loop which is a horizontal loop in the ground absorbing heat energy from the ground and transferring it via the heat pump into the house. This can also be a borehole system usually over a 100m deep and usually two or three or more borehole probes are inserted into these wells and absorb the energy in the ground transferring it via the heat pump into the home for use in heating and domestic hot water.
